For this look, I was tasked with making a contoured garment and I chose to make a half-placket full-length dress. My inspiration for this garment came from a WSGN trend that I found on shirt dresses and sartorial stripes.

After playing around with some materials that I had I chose to use a NOS 100% cotton ticking that I salvaged out of a barn when doing some work in New Orleans. The fabric had a nice crisp hand and was quite easy to work with.

When drafting that pattern for this dress I needed to do quite a bit of pattern manipulation to contour the placket to give the illusion that the shirt was being pulled open.

FINAL LOOK

I ended up being happy with how the dress turned out and thought it would be really wearable. If I was to remake it now I would probably add a yoke and maybe a chest pocket.
